Routes to Roots

Lily yearns for meaning and thought she found it in her local Chabad house. She plans to convert, but when she informs her family, they demand that she choose between her family and her religion. Defeated, Lily gives up her plans to convert. Years later, she receives a shocking result from her DNA test - apparently, her mother is Jewish. When she investigates, her grandfather begrudgingly reveals that her mother was kidnapped and adopted. Her birth mother was a woman she had only known as “the cake lady.” Now Lily is reunited with her family and doesn’t have to convert to join the Jewish people.
